ABOUT US

Our Story

The Pleasant Valley View Foundation was started by Margaret Muiruri to give back to the community by helping to develop one of the most vulnerable areas in Kenya.  Margaret was a teacher at the public school in an area that had many children who could not afford schooling.  A few of these children would be waiting at her doorstep when she came home from teaching.  Word spread of Margaret teaching these children each evening and soon her small gathering grew until it was large enough to quit her job and teach full time out of her own home.  In 2005, Margaret's dreams finally became a reality when Pleasant Hope Academy was built which now has a student body of 136 children.

Biblical Foundation

Pleasant Hope Academy's core values are to provide a Christ-centered curriculum based on biblical truths that will result in clear, critical thinking and a Christian world view; and to provide an educational experience leading to the formation of the character of Christ in the lives of students. Our goal is to support parents in their primary role and responsibility of training their child.

Community

Pleasant Hope Academy is a Christian co-ed PP1 - K9 private school located in Kikuyu, Kenya on a 2.5 acre campus. We believe each child should be given the opportunity to learn and apply themselves to the best of their ability without regard of their financial situation.  Our vision is to produce educated and skilled students to live productive lives; equipped with a biblical foundation and the ability to impact the world for Christ.

Complex in Kenya

WHY KENYA?

The country of Kenya is at an economic intersection. It’s seeing rapid growth that is positive for many, but a large portion of its population is being left behind. Keeping all of this in mind, we have chosen to be a force of good in Kenya.
